Well to be honest I have played around with Tyvek a few times. The funny thing is, it works really well! Whenever I am staying in shelters I carry a small piece just a few inches larger then my sleeping bag and use it as a ground sheet. It would be a nice to carry a small amount in a survival kit to cover a small shelter, however it is to bulky to pack small enough.
