This has been the main questions for years, do I get GoreTex boots or not! Whats your view?
GoreTex is great for day hikes or overnighters, for multi day extended trip I go for none GoreTex. There is a very good reason for this, GoreTex dose an amazing job keeping the water out but if water gets in it does an even better job keeping your feet wet! It is a fact that boots without GoreTex will dry much faster then boot with.
Lets hear your thoughts!

To be honest Rikki I think the best way to go is None GoreTex and carry GoreTex socks like you have. I too have GoreTex coat and pants, however, my goal over the next couple of years is to change over to all wool. Wool is an amazing fiber, it will not stink when dirty, it will not burn from sparks(GoreTex sure will...ask me!) and it is crazy warm even when wet. I think nice Filson coat and pants would be the way to go, for me anyway.
