Just a quick question guys! Before we get out there and start learning map and compass it would be nice to know who has a compass and who may have extra one that maybe you could lend people who don't have one.
I have a Suunto Ranger and a Sunto SL4 (I think that is it) both which are great for map and compass.

well i got one well two lol one is a silva very basic one for now ! the other is my phone !!! lol now before you say anything it does have gps and a compass .... now i know what yer thinking batterys lol dont worry ill never have a dead phone !!! i have battery backup and solar and crank charger !!! also this phone will in fact still emit disstress signal even if damaged !!! lol ive well thought out the phone thing and there is a place for the new age divices as well ! lol

I have no problems with cell phones with a compass and GPS. I have a smart phone as well and I have used the compass and GPS a number of times, they worked well!

Oh i was being a bit funny with the new age stuff lol i find it funny on tv shows and most ppl always think everyone never carries extra power when using electronic divices. lol im sure youve heard it before

im truely amazed with the gps both on my honda nx 250 and phone its pin point accurate ! i use it to find houses on purchaseing stuff from kijiji and it even talks and tells you when your beside that house !!! it would be good for someone that doesnt know how to use a compass as well they also can be used as a strobe ! or becon if you were injured and couldnt walk to use a compass no end to what modern technoligy can do !!! just wanted to touch on the phone as well as a compass ill bring both and some extra power gadgets as well just to show and mess around with as well lol

i read an interesting artical on the bubbles that sometimes appear in compass's i thought mine was damaged cuz it does that appears then dissapears but also sometimes the compass is damaged as well but changes in temp and elevation can cause them as well !!!

It is nice to have no bubbles in a compass but as long as they are small it really won't affect you making it to your final point. The wife and I have a top of the line TomTom GPS for the car and we love it! Not sure how well it would work off road but in the big cities it is amazing!

i use compass gps and my phone ! usually have 2 compass with me at all times !!! when your lost its easy to think your compass is wrong but with 2 its reassuring
