Hi,
A friend of mine recently ordered a few of the Bear Grylls/ Gerber Scout knives of Ebay to give as gifts ...and I got one
First off they are cheaper off Ebay then the $31.99 Cdn tire wants for one. This is high as they go for about $16.00 in the USA.

First thing that surprised me was how light and thin this knife is. When it is clipped in your pants pocket it rides low and is held tight. This would be a great knife to carry in dress pants in an office or retail field. You would never know its there and wouldnt make a strong ooutline in your pocket. Its to bad it wasnt a solid color.
This knife is sharp and feels sturdy. The blade had no up and down or side to side movement. The thumb lock (as opposed to a liner lock that is on so many knives) feels great to use and is secure.
The body of the knife is all plastic (this gives it its light weight) there is not a steel body that the plastic rides on so when the knife is open if you squeeze the body there is a slight movement at the opening for the knife. Not a big deal and not a lot of movement.
When you shut the knife the blade rests on the orange plastic rear piece and its a tad high. It allows the blade tip to be exposed. If you run your finger from the end of the knife you can feel the blade tip. Hopefully as the blade wears the plastic the blade will settle down into a better closed position. Again it is minor but I noticed it.
The blade is serrated at the rear with very thin serrations- dont use on wood they wouldnt last more then a few minutes. The best thing about serrations to a bushcrafter is there ability to cut wet and dirty cord. A non serrated blade tends to wander on dirty wet rope where a serrated blade just bites on into the rope.
The clip does dig into your hand during extended use but remove it and the knife fits nicely into your hand. Also the thumb grooves work well, not to shallow that they provide no grip and not to deep the make for an uncomfortable grip. Just right.
The metal is carbon steel so it will sharpen up real good but needs to be protected from rust (hence the black coating).
Its not a heavy duty woods knife but a its a real nice, well made pocket knife.
$31.99.....kinda high but if you buy it you wont be dissapointed.
